Skin Treatments
CHEMICAL PEELS
Chemical peels are a method of regenerating and resurfacing the skin. They exfoliate the outer layers of dead skin, revealing new skin with improved tone, texture, and colour.
There are several types of chemical peels, each designed for different skin concerns. The strength of the chemical peel will determine its depth.
A light (“lunchtime”) chemical peel provides subtle improvement over time and is often done in a series. No downtime is required for this type of peel.
Light Peels: Skin Deep Glycolic and Lactic / Aspect Dr Salicylic Peels
Ideal treatment for:
- Dull or dehydrated complexion
- Congestion
- Acne
- Melasma
A medium chemical peel gives your skin a smooth, fresh look. Minimal/zero down time with these peels, skin will be in repair mode for up 10 days as it heals and continues to improve. Skin will need to be prepped with appropriate skin care prior to treatment.
Medium Peels: Cosmedix Timeless / Purity / Deep Sea
Ideal treatment for:
- Uneven or moderate skin discolouring
- Age Spots
- Acne Scarring
- Fine to moderate wrinkles
A deep chemical peel produces the most dramatic results. Recovery time is longer with a deep peel. A deep chemical peel is a medical procedure and does have significant down time.
Deep Peel: TCA Peel (performed by Dr Ryan)
- Skin texture

COLLAGEN STIMULATING FILLERS
Collagen-stimulating fillers, also known as biostimulators, don’t just add volume they help create new collagen. These products contain ingredients that stimulate the body’s natural collagen production process.
Ideal treatment to appear more youthful looking without appearing like you’ve had work done.
The treatment is ideal for:
- Cheek volume
- Nasolabial folds
- Jowls
- Under eyes
- Backs hands and some areas of the body
- Treatment of scars
Collagen stimulating products are injected below the surface of the skin to treat volume loss and provide a gradual increase in skin thickness and skin tightening. Over a few months new collagen is laid down helping to gradually restore fullness to facial wrinkles and folds. This results in a softer and more youthful appearance.
You may notice immediate results, but it can take a few months to see the full results of your treatment. The average regimen consists of three treatments spread out over three or four months. The results appear gradually as your collagen production increases, and lasts up to two years.
Collagen stimulating fillers have also become a popular choice to enhance buttocks for those looking to add more definition to their appearance.

LED LIGHT THERAPY
Led Light Therapy is a highly beneficial treatment for skin disorders, wound healing, and general skin health.
Fine lines and wrinkles, breakouts, acne and excess sebum production, redness and inflammation, eczema, rosacea and other skin conditions can all benefit from LED light treatment.
The light penetrates the skin into the subcutaneous tissue, where the photon energy is absorbed by the mitochondria – which are the energy factories of your skin. They are energized and stimulate cell reproduction and regeneration. By increasing cell reproduction and improving blood circulation, more collagen and elastin are produced. This helps to speed wound healing, improve skin and hair quality, reduce inflammation, and maximise the benefits of other treatments.

PRP FACIAL TREATMENT
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a popular skin rejuvenating treatment. Often referred to as “the Vampire Facial” due to the use of the patient’s own blood in the treatment.
In PRP, the healing platelets from blood plasma are separated from a patient’s own blood and are injected as well as needled into the face. Platelets are the cells in the blood that help tissue to heal and grow new cells. They contain growth factors, special biologically active proteins that play an important role in tissue healing and regeneration. Once injected, PRP acts as a matrix that promotes your own collagen to grow and regenerate tissue.
In the simplest of terms, PRP injections use each individual patient’s own healing system to improve skin texture and tone.
The treatment is ideal for:
· Dark circles around the eyes
· Smoothing premature ageing skin
· Treating the crow’s feet
· Ageing skin around the neck and décolletage areas
PRP works to naturally smooth and tighten the skin, creating a more youthful, plumper appearance.
You may notice immediate results, but it can take a few months the see the full results of your treatment. The average regimen consists of 3 treatments spread out over 6 to 9 months. The results appear gradually as your collagen production increases.

PHOTO DYNAMIC THERAPY (PDT)
Photo Dynamic Therapy, also known as PDT, is a unique treatment for unhealthy sun damaged skin on the face and body.
PDT uses light and a photosensitizing chemical substance – which is a drug that is activated by light, to destroy abnormal cells. The light can come from a laser, LEDs or even direct sunshine.
The treatment is ideal for:
- Solar damage
- Roughened sunsports
- Pre-cancerous lesions
- Treatment of acne
The procedure is effective, safe, non-invasive and allows treatment of large areas. Due to the selective nature of PDT treatment, healthy tissue is left unharmed.
The treated area of the skin will become red and flaking or peeling, as it would after a mild sunburn. The redness and flaking can last for several days to a week, after that the treated area is rejuvenated and skin is much healthier in appearance.
For best results, this treatment may need to be repeated to ensure all abnormal cells have been destroyed.

SKIN NEEDLING
Skin needling works by encouraging your skin to make more collagen. The idea is that micro pinpricks from the procedure cause slight injury to the skin and that the skin responds by making new collagen-rich tissue.
Fine needles puncture the outermost layer of skin to create a controlled injury that stimulates growth. The beauty of skin needling is that it doesn’t cause actual damage, instead the skin is stimulated, encouraging natural growth processes that lead to firmer skin and with a more even skin tone. As scar tissue breaks down, it triggers a healing response and allows for an important boost in collagen.
The treatment is ideal for:
· Acne scars
· Large pores
· Smoothing premature ageing skin
· Reduced skin elasticity
· Uneven skin tone and pigmentation
· Ageing skin around the neck and décolletage areas
· Fine lines and wrinkles
Our skin needling treatment also includes a refining mask. Immediately post treatment skin may appear pink like sunburn, it will take few days to appreciate the full results of the treatment.
You will notice a more even in tone and texture, and that skin care products are more easily absorbed.
You will need to be extra careful about sun exposure post treatment and wear SPF.

MOLE, SKIN TAGS & BENIGN LESION REMOVAL
Pigmented lesions, brown or black spots and birthmarks are skin spots created from an excessive concentration of melanin in the skin. Melanin is what gives your skin its colour and areas of high melanin concentration can be present at birth, caused by age, or overexposure to the sun.
The most commonly treated lesions are solar lentigines (commonly known as sunspots), freckles, and birthmarks. Most pigmented lesions, when completely removed, will not return. However, excessive sun exposure and lack of sunscreen use may cause new lesions to occur. Pigmented lesions that change in size, border shape, and colour that may itch or sting should be checked to rule out melanoma.
Skin tags, the soft hanging pieces of skin, are benign tumours and can appear anywhere on the body, especially where skin rubs again other skin or clothing. They are not dangerous and are easy to remove.
Removal of moles, skin tags and other benign lesions is done via surgical excision or laser therapy.

THREAD LIFT
A thread lift is a non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure that helps to restore lost facial volume. For many patients, the thread lift procedure can result in a relaxed, refreshed appearance, while preserving and enhancing the natural contour of the face.
The treatment is ideal for:
· Reducing jowls and strong nasolabial folds,
· Strengthening jawlines
· Smoothing premature ageing skin
· Lifting drooping soft tissue of the mid and lower face
The threads are inserted within the layers of the skin, to stimulate and accelerate your own collagen and elastin production, creating a natural facial lifting.
These threads are made from a dissolving suture material, leaving your own natural collagen in the treated area, resulting in a lifted, plumper and more youthful complexion.
The results are immediately apparent and continue to improve over time as the threads dissolve, resulting in progressively tighter skin and redefined facial contours. The procedure is relatively simple and convenient, with no downtime and results generally last between 6 and 18 months.

TREATING ACNE & ACNE SCARING
Acne and problematic skin is best treated with a combination of the following:
Chemical Peels – Glycolic Acid & Salicylic Acid
Both Glycolic (AHA) and Salicylic Acid (BHA) are exfoliants. They help to shed dead skin cells and reveal the newer, brighter layers underneath. For people with acne, the benefit of the peeling effects results in less “gunk” that clogs the pores. This includes dead skin cells and oil. With less to clog the pores, the skin clears, and you usually have fewer breakouts.
Aqua Peel Facial is a powerful deep cleansing facial treatment for all skin types, with no downtime. Our Aqua Peel Facial uses hydra-dermabrasion, a “wet-vacuum” system that thoroughly cleanses and exfoliates the skin, removing impurities and dead skin cells. Ideal treatment for oily or congested pores.
Blue LED Light Therapy Blue light therapy is a non-invasive treatment for acne. The wavelength of blue light has an antimicrobial effect, making it effective at killing several types of bacteria that can collect in your pores and oil glands and cause breakouts.
TREATING ACNE SCARS
Acne scars are stubborn, and no single treatment is best for everyone. One or a combination of the following approaches might improve the appearance of your skin, depending on your scar type, your skin type and the severity of the scarring.
Laser Genesis
Laser genesis is a non-invasive and comfortable procedure that uses a laser to gently heat the skin. Typically, its primary use is to fade scarring, redness, and broken blood vessels, and improve the look of rosacea. Laser Genesis also helps to smooth the skin and reduce the look of fine lines, dark spots, and wrinkles.
Chemical Peels
A trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel is a medium depth peel that is most ideal for treating acne scars. This means it can reach slightly deeper into the skin than alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) peels, which are often compared to TCA peels.
Skin Needling
Fine needles puncture the outermost layer of skin to create a controlled injury that stimulates growth. The beauty of skin needling is that it doesn’t cause actual damage, instead the skin is stimulated, encouraging natural growth processes that lead to firmer skin and with a more even skin tone. As scar tissue breaks down, it triggers a healing response and allows for an important boost in collage.
Laser Resurfacing
Like Skin Needling but at a greater depth, Laser resurfacing targets the outer layers of the skin and subsequently encourages new skin to grow by creating thousands of microscopic perforations in the skin’s surface that stimulate the body’s natural healing process. When that layer of the skin is damaged, the body starts up collagen production. By promoting collagen production, the appearance of scarring is considerably reduced.
TREATING REDNESS
BLOOD VESSELS, CAPILLIARIES, CHERRY ANGIOMAS, ROSACEA AND SPIDER VEINS
Broken or dilated blood vessels can appear on your face and body due to several causes. Underlying conditions such as rosacea, which can cause repeated flushing (redness) of the face, can cause broken or dilated blood vessels to form.
Spider veins are extremely common and can appear anywhere on the body, but more often on the legs, ankles, face, chest, or abdomen.
Cherry angiomas are red mole-like skin growths that are made up of small blood vessels, or capillaries. Cherry angiomas most commonly appear in adults older than 30 years.
Broken blood vessels like these don’t heal on their own and will remain on the surface of the skin until something is done about them.
Laser treatments are a great way of dealing with dilated capillaries on the face. Vascular laser treatments target the small blood vessels. The laser causes them to become smaller and gradually fade of the course of a week or two.
The treatment is fast and ideal for improving the condition of your skin. Some patients may experience some bruising or swelling, post treatment, which generally resolves within a few hours or up to a few days. Treatment may need to be repeated.
TREATING SUN DAMAGE & PIGMENTATION
The best treatments for removing pigmentation are laser therapy, skin needling and chemical peels. Treatment options are dependent on the severity and type of hyperpigmentation.
Laser targets sun damage, pigmentation, and acne scars by penetrating into the deep tissues of the skin through non-ablative wavelengths (which exfoliate the superficial layers of the skin) and ablative wavelengths (which penetrate the deep layers to promote collagen growth) and is considered ideal for significantly reducing the look of pigmentation and scarring.
Lasers should be with care and caution in melasma treatment due to the possible worsening effect.
Gentle chemical peels consisting of a combination of lactic acids, vitamin C and retinoids can really help with pigmentation, and in particular with the treatment of melasma.
